It is written that Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father.

Anyone ever wonder why Tim Tebow was born left-handed?

There are some Tebow zealots who may not think it’s a coincidence. Even as biblical scholars debate whether it is the archangel Gabriel who sits at the left-hand of heaven’s throne, there are Tebow fans who believe the Broncos’ quarterback is worthy of the highest of standings.

First there was “Tebowing” where fans got the idea of kneeling in prayer in places outside the church setting, as the Broncos’ quarterback did on the Miami sideline as Matt Prater was getting ready to kick his game-winning field goal in overtime.

Now, Broncos fans are going a step further, customizing their No. 15 jerseys by replacing the name “Tebow” on the back with “Jesus.”

The No. 15 “Jesus” jerseys have created a little more controversy than “Tebowing” because it has been viewed by some Christians as a clear transgression of the first commandment that prohibits idolatry.

But others say that instead of the more common “John 3:16,” fans are honoring their faith in the Son of God by using the jersey of Tebow, an unabashed believer, as sort of a billboard.

“I don’t know what to think about that because I don’t know where people’s hearts are,” Tebow said today. “It’s important to not judge without knowing their hearts. If their heart is to honor the Lord, then it’s a good thing. Only God can judge because only God knows what’s truly in a person’s heart.”

As with all things Tebow, the “Jesus” jersey has grown from one-by-one to nationwide fad. All anyone has to do is go to NFLShop.com and customize the name and number they want on their team jersey. With a current 15 percent discount on customizing the jersey, the No. 15 “Jesus” jerseys can be had for $94.99 apiece.

“I haven’t seen any of these jerseys in our stores,” said Marty Garafalo of Game Day Merchandising, which operates the three Broncos stores. “But I guarantee you we will have people go in the store tomorrow and ask for them.”
