The prayer movement is taking on many different forms in the U.S. as intercessors work to unite generations, cultures, races and religious denominations for God’s cause.

The latest effort is a prayer walk that's soon to hit Florida.

God Belongs in My City is a national movement and statement of faith that is seeing cities and communities banning together to pray for change. Prayer walks are being organized in Dallas, Houston, Hawaii, Fayetteville, N.C., and beyond and is now set to take over all of Florida.

The movement started in October 2009 when a youth group passionate for God in New York City saw an atheist advertisement campaign in their subway system that said, “A Million New Yorkers Are Good Without God. Are You?” They were so stirred up by this, that they went to their youth pastor who then went to his network of youth pastors and leaders to ask, “What are we, as the body of Christ going to do about this?”

They prayed and decided to take action and have youth ministries from all around the five boroughs hold a prayer walk wearing a simple T-shirt which stated “God Belongs in My City.” In less than two weeks, on Nov. 14, 2009, more than 1,500 youth walked from North and South of Manhattan meeting at Times Square and Grand Central Station making a bold statement that made history in the city and now the nation.

Our vision is to see all the churches and believers alike under one banner come together to pray and take a spiritual stand for our cities in the State of Florida,” says Alan Diaz, co-chairman of God Belongs In My City’s National Office. “The impact from this silent prayer walk will bring unity with all different ethnicities, nominations and creeds. We are expecting to see thousands of believers in each city throughout the State of Florida—declaring that 'God Belongs In Our City.'”

This fearless call to rise up as one and not collapse under the waves of this world launches on Aug. 25 across Florida in Jacksonville, Ocala, Orlando, West Palm Beach and Miami.

In addition to the Florida Prayer Walks, Christian music artists Andy Mineo, Anthony Shepherd & The Roar, and Sheena Lee will headline the GBIMC Concert Tour. Concerts will take place in Jacksonville on Aug. 16, in Orlando on Aug. 17 and in Miami on Aug. 18.
