Pro-Life Media Group and Adoption Agency Making Impact With National Ad Offering Abortion Alternative

Bethany VideoGrand Rapids, Michigan — A pro-life media group and a nationally-recognized adoption agency state that they have been making a positive impact for life through their partnership in producing a television advertisement for abortion-minded mothers.

Heroic Media and Bethany Christian Services joined forces late last year to launch the first-ever national television campaign that centered on the option of adoption over the forever loss of abortion. Approximately 45 spots were aired over a four-week period on the Oxygen Network, which is geared toward women viewers.

“This campaign represents a partnership between two national leaders in the fight for life and alternatives to abortion,” said Bill Blacquiere, president/CEO of Bethany. “The commercial has already impacted lives across the country and we will continue to air it in hopes of connecting women with adoption resources in 2013.”

As a result of obtaining airtime on the network, Bethany Christian Services states that it received hundreds of calls from pregnant women who wanted to learn more about putting their baby up for adoption. The organization shared one story that it found to be especially memorable, explaining that a woman from Florida contacted Bethany after seeing the ad, and stated that she had originally considered leaving the baby at the hospital after he or she was born. The woman was able to choose the adoptive parents through Bethany Christian Services, and ended up selecting a pastor and his wife to be the forever family of her child.

The thirty-second television advertisement features a pregnant woman speaking about why adoption is a blessing.

“I’m pregnant, but I’m not in a position to care for this child,” the commercial begins. “I want him to have a better future  — to be with a family who will love him and give him the things that I can’t.”

“I’ve learned that through adoption, I can choose the family that will raise him, and I can receive help through the rest of my pregnancy,” the young woman continues. “Adoption just seems like the best option — for him, and for me.”

A toll-free number is then provided so that women can call and obtain additional assistance and information. The website ImPregnant.org is also displayed on the screen.

“Adoption is the overlooked option; less than 1 percent of women with unplanned pregnancies choose adoption, but for every adoptive baby there are 30 to 40 couples waiting to welcome the child into their family,” said Marissa Cope, Director of Marketing, Communications and Research at Heroic Media.

“Heroic Media’s mission is to present women with hopeful alternatives to abortion – and adoption is a beautiful alternative,” the production group added. “Our new pro-adoption TV commercial shares the message that adoption is a loving choice that gives a birth mother the ability to choose a family for her baby and receive support throughout her pregnancy.”

According to the Guttmacher Institute, more than half of all abortions in America are obtained by women in their 20’s, and therefore, Heroic Media and Bethany Christian Services aims to reach women within this age bracket. The organizations plan to continue to run the advertisement on Oxygen through the end of January.

“Together we can encourage women not only to give life to a child of God, but also to bless countless other people with that child’s life,” Heroic Media stated.

Bethany Christian Services has been in operation since 1944, and Heroic Media first opened its doors in 2004.
